2022 Oyster Roast and Sock Burning - Annapolis Maritime Museum

Celebrating the arrival of the Spring equinox and the start of boating season at the Annapolis Maritime Museum with a tradition of burning winter worn socks at the Oyster Roast and Sock Burning party. The event included all you can eat raw and grilled oysters, tastings of oyster dishes from local chefs, a shucking competition, beer/wine/cocktails, and tours of the museum’s exhibits. Proceeds from the event support the Museum’s education programs.

Samples of photography shot while on assignment for the Maryland Department of Agriculture during the winter of 2022 to create content for marketing efforts to promote the state’s wild oyster fishery and the fishery for blue catfish. I followed the product from harvest to processing in order to tell the story of the supply chain.
