A Different Lens: Jay Fleming - Maryland Public Television - Outdoors Maryland, Episode 3203

For Jay Fleming, photography is a way to capture and preserve the unique characters and environments of an aging and changing Chesapeake region. Whether on the dock, in a boat, or under the water, there are few if any photographers who have so thoroughly documented life in the Chesapeake Bay region. Join Fleming as he practices his craft onboard fishing boats in the bay and at Rippons Brothers, Inc. in Hoopersville.

Chesapeake Bay photographer Jay Fleming has taken stunning— and haunting— pictures of the Bay’s smallest communities. He’s been given rare intimate access to Smith and Tangier Islands, shedding light on the rising water and shrinking land that threaten the residents of those islands.

Virtual interview over zoom with Demlarva Life and Jimmy Hoppa about Jay’s career photography and how he his business has changed in 2020 with the constraints of the COVID pandemic.
