The 2018 On-The-Water photography workshops started in May, since then I have hosted over 60 photographers on the water out of Smith Island and Annapolis. The unusually wet spring and summer has provided for difficult conditions for the workshops, and at the same time, it has resulted in amazing lightning conditions with dramatic skies. I am looking forward to six more workshops in 2018 of Annapolis, St. Michaels and Hoopers Island.
Filmmaker, Alexander Glass, joined me on an Annapolis workshop in July to create a video to capture students shooting on the water and working in my studio.
Marketing Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs throughout the Country
I recently worked with King's Seafood, a distributor with 21 restaurants in California, Nevada, Arizona and Texas, to provide photographs of the Chesapeake Bay's soft shell crab fishery. Their restaurants have been serving soft shell crabs landed in Crisfield during the summer season.
As I write this post from Rhodes Point, its amazing to think that crabs caught and shed out here on Smith Island could make their way out to California in a matter of days.
Reflecting on Annapolis Photography Workshops - July 2018
This week, I hosted fifteen photographers on the water out of Annapolis during three workshops. A break in the recent wet weather pattern provided us with great weather each morning for shooting at the mouth of the Severn and South Rivers. We focused our shooting efforts on watermen targeting crabs and clams, recreational fishermen, Thomas Point Lighthouse, the commercial shipping industry and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
There are two spaces available for both the Thursday (8.2.2018) and Friday (8.3.2018) workshops next week. Contact me for more information or to reserve a space:
