A quick trip - less than 24-hours - down to lower Dorchester County, Maryland to photograph landscapes with light from the sunset, full moon and sunrise. Heavy Winds and temperatures in the low 20's after sunset made for difficult conditions.
Ice has started to form in the creeks and along the shorelines of the Chesapeake Bay. With sub-freezing temperatures in the forecast for the first week of 2018, expect to see more 'hard-water' in the bay.
Food Photography - December 2017
On Friday, December 1st, I photographed the new menu at the increasing popular Ivy City Smokehouse in Northeast Washington D.C.
Thanksgiving Vacation - Southwest Florida
Photographs from a quick trip to Southwest Florida to visit family during the 2017 Thanksgiving Holiday. We visited Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, Bonita Beach, Port of the Isles, Everglades National Park and Pine Island.
These are the first images taken on my new Nikon d850 which came in the mail just before departing Annapolis. I am excited to start using this camera as my 'workhorse' to replace the d750, d500 and d800 that I have been using for just over two years.
World Fisheries Day
Today, November 21st, is "World Fisheries Day", a day that was established to reflect on our evolving knowledge of the water, aquatic resources and the communities that depend upon on the resources.
Over the past eight years I have paired my passion for photography with my interest and curiosity for the aquatic resources in the Chesapeake Bay and beyond. As I came to realize the storytelling power of photography, I looked deeper and deeper into the Chesapeake Bay's fisheries to create 'Working the Water.' I plan to continue my documentation of fisheries, in the Chesapeake and beyond, to help tell the story of the seafood, the harvesters and the environment.
In this post, I have included pictures of fisheries that I have documented in on the Atlantic Coast, Gulf of Mexico and Cuba.
